The main problem is the requirement that no third-party iPhone Apps share data. Cut and paste is by definition sharing data. But there are rogue apps out there that do this, including some under review by Apple, because they know that not being able to cut and paste is a PITA.
I own several Newtons and an iPhone. Sadly, most of the green bricks live in a drawer now.
